So you want to study in UK? Not a bad idea! After all, attending university in England can certainly be exciting... plus, there are many universities, colleges, and technical schools to choose from!

How will you know which UK university is right for you after you've finished your IELTS?

Well, consider the following...

First of all, find out whether the university you choose offers the subject that you would like to study in UK. If it doesn't, you will need to find a different university or choose a different place to study.

Secondly, you will need to think about the university's location. Do you want it to be close to London? Is the university's quality and the programs they offer more important than location? If yes, then you'll need to spend some time getting familiar with this guide. It lists UK universities according to subject and contains a lot of relevant information.

Of course, tuition fees are important and can't be overlooked... especially in the face of recent student protests concerning the tuition increases for foreign students. Many universities offer scholarships to foreign students who have achieved outstanding academic merit.

Thirdly, if you are looking to do postgraduate work while you study in UK, then you may want to check out the university's research ranking. This is commonly referred to as the "Research Assessment Exercise" or RAE. Each university receives a RAE ranking and this partly determines the availability of resources (money) for postgraduate students.

The best advice for those wanting to study in UK is to simply order a brochure, or prospectus, from the university that interests you. Most universities mail them free internationally via the post.
